The Amsterdam Rainbow Dress is a living work of art, made of all the national flags from countries where homosexuality is illegal, on penalty of imprisonment, torture or capital punishment. When a country adopts LGBTI+ inclusive legislation, the respective flag shall be replaced with a rainbow flag.

As a foundation our goal is to encourage debate and awareness about inclusion and equal rights throughout the planet. This iconic work of art in the shape of a dress encourages actively defending and celebrating the acquisition and institutionalization of freedom, while at the same showing the still disconcerting state of human rights in many parts of the world.

As of August 2016, the Amsterdam Rainbow has been centerfold for numerous celebrations and events related to the decriminalization of same-sex relationships. Each event has been captured in spectacular images taken at meaningful locations around the world in which we have cooperated with the local community, photographers, models and crew.

With these international photo series, as well as numerous educational workshops and presentations the Amsterdam Rainbow Dress Foundation is an international beacon of awareness for LGBTIQ+ rights and the lives of those who have been displaced due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

In addition to our ongoing projects, the Amsterdam Rainbow Dress Foundation strives to cooperate with governmental, corporate and other civic organizations in order to reach mutual goals and develop programs aimed at diversity an inclusion.
